Trent is currently a paraplanner at Ballast Inc. here in Lexington. Originally from Richmond, KY, he is a graduate of the University of Kentucky, with bachelor’s degrees in Accounting, Finance, and Management. He started his swim career when he was 5 years old with the Arlington Alligators and finished his age group career with the Swimchester Sailfish and Madison Central High School, before going on to swim for UK. As his career in the water came to an end, Trent realized his true passion for coaching. Trent has coached at Idle Hour Country Club for the past 7 summers, serving as both head coach and assistant coach during his tenure. When he is not at the office or on a pool deck, you can find Trent spending time with his friends and family or enjoying a hobby of his (golf, pickleball, and billiards to name a few). This is Trent’s fifth season coaching at Lafayette, and he is very excited to meet the team and have a spectacular season! LET’S GO GENERALS!!!
I look forward to another great season with the Generals! I am the dive coach this year and am eager to recruit new faces as well as familiar ones-even if diving is new to you, beginners are more than welcome. I am a Lafayette alum, so coaching for the Generals is something I take pride in! Outside of coaching dive, I work for Fayette County Public Schools while pursuing my passions for culinary arts. I anticipate a great season for the Generals!!
Beginning her fifth season as Assistant Swim Coach for the Generals, Morgan is a native of Richmond, Kentucky. She attended the University of Kentucky and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Human Health Sciences in 2020. She earned her Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the UK College of Dentistry in 2025 and recently started her professional career at Sterling Health Care. Morgan began swimming at the age of 6 with the Arlington Alligators and finished her high school career with the Swimchester Sailfish and Madison Central High School swim teams. She went on to swim collegiately for the UK Women’s Swim Team where she completed her 16 year-long swimming career. As her time as a competitive swimmer came to an end, she began coaching and enjoys the opportunity it gives her to stay around the sport. Morgan has also spent the last 7 summers coaching at Idle Hour Country Club. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, trying new restaurants, going to Keeneland, cheering on the Cats and – of course – coaching swimming. Morgan is so excited for the upcoming season and all the successes it will bring. Go Generals!
My name is Sophie Sorenson. I am originally from Ames, IA, where I began my swimming journey. I started swimming year-round when I was 6 years old for the Ames Cyclone Aquatic Club, and continuing my career at Ames High School. I was a 3-time High School Team State Champion, a 2016 Olympic Trials Qualifier, and a 4-time High School All-American. After high school, I continued my career at the University of Kentucky. We claimed the first SEC titled in school history my junior year (2021), I was a 4-time NCAA Qualifier, and a 2-time US Olympic Trials Semifinalist. After college, I decided to call Lexington my new home and currently do medical device sales for Arthrex. In my free time, I love working out at F45, spending time with friends and family, and cheering on the Cats! I am so excited to start my second year as a coach for Lafayette. Go Generals!!!
