Hello Families,

I hope everyone is doing well. Thank you to everyone who made it out to Centre, even those who weren't swimming, to cheer us on.

Congratulations to our Boys Team on a 5th Place Finish, our Combined Team with a Runner-Up finish, and our Girls Team for a third consecutive Region Title. We have a lot to be proud of from Tuesday and Thursday of this week. I've been involved with this sport for 20 years and I have never seen anything like what I saw from our kids this week. Swim & Dive meets always have their ebbs and flows. Our Divers got us off to a great start on Tuesday, and we continued that hot start on Thursday. I was waiting for the inevitable hiccup to come and it never did. 61% Lifetime Best Times from our team, and a bunch more that we're extremely close to being a lifetime best.

The Swimmer & Diver of the Meet is... Everyone. I know that may be a cop out answer, but we truly could not have done what we did this week without every single person's contribution. While we had so many good things happen (multiple 20+ second drops from our 500 Freestylers, First-Time Region Medal-Winners, First-Time Region Point-Scorers), I did want to point out a few things that happened. Congratulations to our Girls 200 Freestyle Relay (Myla Phelps, Avery Hutchison, Lucie McCaffrey, Lauren Wedeking) for winning that event yesterday. Myla Phelps, Avery Hutchison, and Lauren Wedeking were named to the All-Region Team as well. Finally, Congratulations to Lauren Wedeking for winning the 100 Free & 200 Free, breaking both school records in the process. The 200 Free was her own record from last season, but the 100 Free was over a decade old.

Unfortunately, I will not be able to post results until the middle or end of next week, but I will get them up as soon as we can.

FCPS just cancelled all weekend activities due to the anticipated weather. Everyone stay safe and warm this weekend! 

The next practice for Swim & Dive will be on Sunday, February 1st. That practice will be for our Semi-State Swim Team & State Dive Team only. We will let you know who qualified for Semi-State late next week. All of our Divers who competed on Tuesday are projected to make State.
