I hope everyone is doing well and has had a great summer so far. With school right around the corner, I wanted to touch base with our parents from last season.

LHS Open House (8/11/25)

Lafayette's Open House will be on Monday, August 11th from 5p-7p. We will be there, so feel free to come by and say hi. Also, if you know of anyone who was not on our team last year who may be interested, feel free to send them our way!

KY SB 181

Since my last email sent out in April, there was a bill that went through the Kentucky Legislature that has now been signed into law. This law is designed to enhance parent involvement in their kid's education. This law has changed how school district employees can communicate with your students. While I won't get into everything that the law impacts, I will go over the parts that will change how we've done things in the past.

• New Email: I will now be using my district-linked email going forward. That email is [email protected].
• Social Media: Your kids may or may not have noticed that our team Instagram unfollowed them. It is not because we don't like them or are cutting them from the team. The new law says we can no longer follow current students. Students are allowed to follow our account (and we encourage that), but we cannot follow them back.
• Cell Phone Communication: Employees of FCPS (including coaches) are no longer allowed to text students, send messages in GroupMe, or use any other unapproved communication app. The FCPS approved app for Employee-Student communication is ParentSquare. The district/school will be sending info out on how to set this up in the coming weeks. If your student calls/texts a coach, sends a GroupMe message, or DMs our Instagram from this point forward, they will not get a response.
• Emailing with Students: Emailing between employees and students is allowed, as long as the employee and the student are both using their FCPS emails. We cannot communicate with students via email if they are using an email other than their FCPS student email.

Parent Meeting

While we haven't officially set a date for our preseason parent meeting, we typically hold it in early-mid September during our normal practice time (Sundays from 4p-6p). We will go over all of this stuff, as well as registration and our plans for the season.
